South and West Mull

West of Mull including the Loch Scridain, Ulva, Staffa, Lunga and Gometra to Ardmore Point.

There are a few sheltered anchorages along the South coast of Mull until you get to the Western corner where there are several islands including Iona. Arround this point there are a few places to stop and admire the surroundings. From Iona, Mull folds back on itself into Loch Scridain which runs Eastwards into Mull has a few anchorages but none are really good in bad weather.

Further North is Loch na Keal and many islands including Ulva, Gometra, Staffa and the Treshnish Isles. Most offer some kind of anchorage but most are not great in windy conditions. Staffa in particular does not have good holding but is definitely worth the visit, if only to admire the natural basalt columns and sea caves, including the best known - Fingal's Cave.

Round the North West of Mull there are a couple of lochs - Loch Mingary and Loch Cuan but unfortunately neither offer great shelter although this is a good place to look out for Golden Eagles.
